Reduced STI and HIV/AIDS mortality and morbidity in Timor-Leste by enhancing related prevention and treatment services

This Program addresses critical gaps in supporting and scaling-up the national response to HIV/AIDS and STI by primarily pursuing following objectives —
• Improving and increasing coverage of strategic HIV and STI prevention services
• Improving access to and the quality of strategic information related to these diseases
• Strengthening and expanding HIV-AIDS treatment and care
• Strengthening health systems relating to STIs and HIV
• Strengthening community systems relating to STIs and HIV
• Building an enabling environment for implementation of STI and HIV programs

Key achievements:
- Number of men who have sex with men (MSM) reached through HIV-AIDS prevention activities: 1,327
- Number of  female sex worker (FSW) reached through HIV-AIDS prevention activities: 1,147
- Number of condoms distributed in 2011 only: 474,772
- Number of people who received HIV testing and counseling including provision of test results in 2011 only: 3,400
- Number of cases of sexually transmitted infection treated in 2011 only: 6,364
- Number of adults and children with advanced HIV infection receiving antiretroviral theraphy in 2011: 52
- VCT centers set up in 9 districts
