Promote women’s participation in decentralisation development in Timor-Leste; Promote the visibility of women’s contribution to the decentralization participation in different areas in Timor Lest; Socialising of Timor-Leste Domestic Violence law approved by National Parliament; Expand the understanding of existing gender roles in the community; Build the capacity of community radio station journalists and staff to report on gender and decentralisation development issues by a direct involvement in this radio programs
This radio bulletin program series aims at promoting visibility of women’s contribution to Timor Leste decentralization development among the community. Recognizing that women face additional barriers in accessing opportunities in redevelopments, this radio program will be aimed at involvement of women in their local development as well as socialising of domestic violence law passed by parliament through radio talk shows and bulletin radio.
In the first half of 2010 TLMDC produced 26 weekly national and community radio bulletins in 6 districts on topics ranging from women's lliteracy, access to justive for women, women in politics, women's security etc. Of these topics within the same period, two were selected as the subject of radio talk shows on 'Domestic Violence as a public crime', and 'Preparation of women as presidential candidates in elections. TLMDC have also held two focus group discussions with youths and local leaders in the community to assess the impact of TLMDC radio programmes.
