Description: 

Assist the CNE and STAE in the development of civic education strategies Develop and disseminate innovative programming based on STAE civic education strategies Design a civic education lesson with an accompanying teacher's guide to motivate and inform secondary school audiences as active citizens Conduct a capacity building workshop on voter education for STAE's leadership, training team and other responsible staff Develop and apply a voter education improvement plan to STAE's voter education preparations Update STAE's voter education cascade training curriculum Create a quick reference guide to relevant aspects of the law and regulations for the 2017 elections With local partners, collaborate with STAE in implementing voter education Hold a workshop for domestic CSOs showcasing successful approaches to inclusive voter education in other countries Build the CNE’s capacity to conduct media outreach for the 2017 elections Update STAE poll worker training materials for 2017 Support a Timor-Leste disabled people's organization (DPO) and a national women's organization to produce disability and gender awareness materials for inclusion in the nation-wide cascade training Domestic Long and shortTerm Election Observation International Long and short Term Observation Poll Presentations to Political Parties Launch Campaign Management Schools Campaign Training Academy Support the CNE to Organize Nationally Broadcast Presidential Debates


Final Project Results: 

Timor-Leste's 2017 sucessful parliamentary and presidential elections were independent of international supervision for the first time. USAID trained 60+CNE and 40+STAE staff; six political parties; fielded 22 professionalim, integrity, inclusive and transparency was observed
