ATP ID:

Status:
Ongoing
Expected Outcomes:
The Australian Volunteer program (AVp) aims to make an effective contribution to the development objectives of the Australian Government and its partner governments, through Australian volunteers working with people and organisations in developing countries.
Description:
The Australian Volunteers for International program was launched by the Australian Government in March 2018 and takes over form the previous Australian Volunteers for Itnernational Development Program. The goal of the Australian Volunteer program continues to make an effective contribution to the development objectives of the Australian Government and its partner governments, through Australian volunteers working with people and organisations in developing countries. The objectives are: • to support the capacity of host organisations to deliver effective and sustainable development outcomes, and • to promote a positive perception of Australia in the Indo-Pacific region through the contribution of volunteers. The Australian Volunteer Program provides opportunities for skilled Australians to contribute to the Government’s development program by carrying out assignments that build people-to-people linkages and build capacity in host organisations in sectors such as health, education, rural development, governance, tourism and law and justice. Volunteers are active in the Australian Government’s public diplomacy efforts by raising awareness of the Government’s development program overseas and in Australia.
Final Project Results:
Volunteers strengthen capacity through mentoring and developing individuals and organisational potential to achieve their goals. The key areas of focus for volunteers placements are improving livelhoods, enhancing human development and strengthening governance and institutions.
