It is expected that by the end of the project, number of malnourished childrend in the country will be decreased significantly. Traditional fishermen will have an increased income as well as sustainable wider market for their catching by the use of fish in the project.
This three-year duration project, will start its first year by providing technicians and equipment to female members of fishing cooperative in Atauro to produce ‘Furikake’, nutritious food made of dried fish, moringa, sesame, spring onion, and salt. ‘Furikake’ will be on commercial distribution in Dili and also will be introduced to school feeding program in the municipalities of Dili and Ermera during the 3 years, along with education on nutrition, the project promote the local products as nutritious foods in Timor-Leste. The project will use local products to improve current status of nutritional sector in Timor-Leste through introducing easy-to-cook nutritious food for households as well as for the school feeding program.
